Politics of COVID 19 :

-Khimlal Devkota, Senior Advocate

Meanwhile, the second and third waves of the Corona have engulfed the world. Nepal is suffering from the second wave in this movement. Corona is nothing but the proverb that hot water drink and will run away, and the general prohibition that Corona can’t touch me and the attitude of breaking lockdown is now another joke on human life. The caution to fight with Corona, the vaccine against it and the act of maintaining and overthrowing the government by preparing genuine and fake reports on the pretext of that has also become a farce of the gimmicks of Nepali politics. It is in this context that the purpose of this article is to review the effects of the epidemic on contemporary politics.

World Epidemic Experience:

On the one hand, the epidemic destroyed human life and ended countless lives. Disease destroyed the country’s economy. It not only brought turmoil to contemporary politics but also paved the way for scientific research. Ultimately, human life did not have to die prematurely due to scientific research. I didn’t have to live a stressful life due to the fear of the disease. With the help of measures to fight against the disease, the way was paved for the uninterrupted advancement of human life. This is an achievement presented in the negative light of the epidemic. In 2016 alone, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of an international outbreak of the Zika virus in the United States, declaring a public health emergency and estimating that the disease could kill three to four million people. This virus, which can adversely affect fertility and increase infertility, had created a new terror. The epidemic has its own history. Ebola fever, which appeared in 2014, killed thousands of people in West Africa. In 2012, measles killed nearly 1.5 million people worldwide, while typhoid killed more than 2.5 million people each year and tuberculosis killed 1 million people. Cholera outbreak in Haiti in 2010 killed tens of thousands of people in Haiti, which was devastated by an earthquake. The Nepal Peace Corps had initially accused him of spreading cholera but later apologized for saying it was wrong. The respiratory virus (H1N1) that spread in 2009 killed more than six million people. The HIV / AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and the SARS epidemic of 2003 The Polio of 1952 and the Great Flu Pandemic of 1918 were examples of past epidemics. The measles of 1901 and the plague of 1910 were no less frightening.

Nearly a hundred years of study and experience of epidemic outbreaks have made it necessary to review today’s corona virus. During this epidemic, especially when there are three tendencies, the tendency is to sit and watch the first spectacle, to run away from the second problem and to develop the structures necessary to face the third problem. The tendency to watch the spectacle and run away was introduced as a play on human life and a stigma on human civilization, while the third tendency to build the necessary structures to deal with the problem made an invaluable contribution to the development of human society and the protection of mankind. Third, this trend during the epidemic forced the rulers of the countries concerned to radically change their health systems, invest in public health, and be concerned about the health concerns of the general public. Due to which, the rulers who faced that problem yesterday seem to be ready to resist against it in a systematic manner today. The epidemic became an excuse for the rulers who did not learn from history to prolong their power to prove their selfishness. For those who do not learn from this ruthless teaching of history, there is also a danger of being misused as a fair opportunity to make political gains. The destructive trend of prioritizing arms, importing and exporting war overshadowed investment in public health. As a state, the rulers who ignore the question of accountability to the people, those who did not learn from the lessons of the past, were badly exaggerated at this time.

The lessons learned by Americans:

During the outbreak of the Corona virus, the political leadership, which was responsible for the people, was established as the center of hope for the people, and those who neglected the health of the people were displaced. Donald Trump’s election defeat is the result. In the midst of Corona’s devastation, he never held the American people accountable, but ridiculed them, distanced himself from UN forums, withheld funding from the World Health Organization, not only denied the advice of public health experts, fired them, and expressed sympathy for those who lost their lives. The state has to spend on social security allowances. Probably a factor as to why they’re doing so poorly. Joe Wyden was also welcomed by the White House for his liberal public health policy. Although it has worked to correct past mistakes and increase public health sensitivities around the world, it still has the expected results.

Indian Behavior:

Advocating Hindutva, trying to influence Nepal’s political parties and rulers through direct or indirect campaigns to bring Nepal back to a Hindu state, Indian rulers also tried to flee Corona by worshiping Hindus in the first wave, lighting candles and trying to stop the mistreatment of health workers. Nine women have also been melted down. A new scandal has started in Nepal by not sending the vaccine even after paying in advance to give the vaccine to a country like Nepal. Sensitivity to this is showing signs that the future politics will not be conducive for the Indian rulers. Obstacles to the functioning of SAARC as a regional organization in Corona, seizure of Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy, war with the Chinese in Doklam, battle with Pakistan, Kalapani Lipulek, Limpiyadhura Nepali territory. The decision to send the head of the intelligent Agency as an envoy to intervene in the case by a special plane has not had a good effect on the neighbors in the country and in the region itself. All these cases may have been lost due to Corona but they have not been erased in the memory of the people. It cannot be said that the outrage expressed by Nepalis in the Hrithik Roshan scandal will not be expressed once again. Coron is changing the political mindset. The political map will not change.

Education to be taken by Nepal:

Amidst the devastation of Corona, the political stability achieved by Nepali politics has been shattered. The government, which won nearly two-thirds of the vote, has now become a hung parliament. The Communist Party, which won a two-thirds majority, has again been torn apart by the abuse of the Supreme Court’s extraordinary jurisdiction. Madhesi parties are also on the verge of division. The unity of the Nepali Congress cannot be saved only with the blessings of god of Pashupati. The constitution obtained as a wish of the last seventy years has been torn apart today. It is not yet possible to predict what will happen due to misuse and interpretation of one’s own interests. The government has to come to the streets inside the people’s house to fight the devastation of Corona. Fighting Corona has no interest in new hospitals, oxygen, ventilators and health workers. There is a tendency to rejoice at the view towers, towers and lock down and prohibitions. The economy has quadrupled. People are dying of hunger, not disease. The government is trying to control corona with the help of the Infectious Diseases Act, which is almost 60 years old. The Corona is engaged in a game of perpetuating power by producing genuine and fake reports in the name of Corona testing.
